The best thing to do is to check the door place card on the inside of the driver’s door. It will list the original size the vehicle is equipped with. Also listed will be the speed and load rating.

Reading the DOT Safety and Date Code

DOT Safety Code

There is a Department of Transportation (DOT) Safety Code that appears on all tires. This assures that your tire complies with all DOT safety standards. After the letters “DOT” on your tire, is your tire’s ID number. It begins with the tire’s manufacturer and plant code to tell you where the tire was manufactured (two numbers or letters). The 9th and 10th characters tell the week the tire was manufactured, and the final number(s) give you the year the tire was manufactured.
